I want to share some of my favorite bands and ask questions to people who I looked up to growing up involved in the hardcore scene in Detroit. I thought it would be interesting to share some of my experiences and hear stories from people ranging from band members to show promoters and zine creators. Even as far as photographers and bartenders. I want to understand how we all ended up in the same rooms, and be fortunate enough to share the same culture with a small group of people across the globe. Hardcore means the world to a lot of people but some have moved on to a more routine lifestyle. That being said, my mission is to shake up the memories that a lot of us have and reinvigorate the hardcore scene since the pandemic has taken away what we love for so long now. We all take away certain things and share a common set of values and I think that is also important to recognize. Without hardcore, I would not be who I am today and so many people can agree. Lucky for us, we can have these conversations and preserve and pass on what we love. I hope you enjoy it as much as I like creating it. This episode was with my long time friend Robbie. He owns a pizza restaurant in Las Vegas called Guerilla Pizza and he's killing it! I met him from mutual friends at hardcore shows of course. He has a fascinating story about how he became a successful entrepreneur in the pizza industry and I'm glad I was able to spend sometime with him on his short and busy trip back to Michigan for the Easter holiday and his Birthday. We barely even covered hardcore if at all to be honest.

I have had Martin on my list of people to have a conversation with ever since I started writing things down well over a year ago preparing for this adventure. I am glad to finally sit and just talk some shit with him about his past bands and obciously what it's like being in a few of the biggest hardcore bands today.
It takes a lot of time and effort to be touring and practically playing full time with all of the bands he's in. I don't think he goes overlooked as an artist but I still don't know if he gets all the credit that he fully deserves. I'm proud to have talked with him and it's an honor to be able to take time and get to talk to the people that have been a part of my life for the past 17+ years.

Kenny is the nicest dude and good to anyone he comes across. AS FAR AS I KNOW! He could be hiding a grumpy old man side to him but I highly doubt it! Listen to this podcast see for yourself! This is a big one boys and girls! Theres some people in the hardcore and metal scene that have rose above everyone else. Frank has been in plenty of staple hardcore bands the past 3+ decades and has earned his stripes. He is now the rhythm guitarist in the infamous Hatebreed! Crazy to think but it was interesting to learn how he ended up playing for them. Great stories and fun times were talked about! I loved chatting with him about everything. This one was a long time in the making! If you know Jim or Justin you know this was a comeplete and amazing fun time it was. Unfortunately to other circumstances the other members were not able to join in on the nonsense. We talked quite a bit about the evolution of the band and just all around partying and stories from the boys.

I know it's been 2 months!!!
All good though! This time I had 2 of my homies on from Detroits own Smash Your Enemies. What a kick ass band! These dudes have been putting work into the Detroit music scene for decades. Jesse has been going to shows and in bands since the late 90s and has always been active. Brandon started SYE back in 2009 and has had its ups and down times throughout the years. Was once on Eulogy records and they are putting out their 4th album on March 4th 2022. You can pre order it on Upstate Records and also hear one of the new songs on Upstates bandcamp up above.

Super fun episode done with Joe, Cara, Lyric and Robbie from one of Detroits newest hardcore bands, ICED OUT. Something a little different but awesome is that they have a female singer! Not unheard of in hardcore but definitely not common! It is exciting what they bring to the table. Their 5 song ep will be out August 5th and I couldn't be more excited! 3 out of the 4 members are in other bands such as Enemy of God, Ground War and Big Deal. All extremely talented bands.
